Healthcare work can be physically and mentally demanding. Long shifts, repetitive movements and extended periods of standing may contribute to muscle strain, fatigue and accumulated stress.

To make wellness support more accessible to healthcare workers, NovaHealth TCM Clinic and AiTreat entered into a partnership with the Healthcare Services Employees’ Union (HSEU) earlier this year.

Through this collaboration, HSEU members can access exclusive HSEU member rates for selected wellness services at NovaHealth TCM’s Chinatown Point clinic. The partnership also includes wellness education, outreach and future skills-development initiatives.

What does the HSEU and NovaHealth TCM partnership offer members?

The partnership gives HSEU members access to selected preventive wellness services at specially subsidised rates. It was created to support healthcare workers who may experience physical strain and fatigue as part of their work.

One of the highlighted services is EMMA, short for Expert Manipulative Massage Automation. Developed by Singapore health-technology company AiTreat, EMMA uses computer vision to identify anatomical reference points and technology-assisted measurements to guide selected robotic massage movements.

The collaboration also covers joint wellness education and outreach programmes. NovaHealth TCM and HSEU plan to explore workplace transformation and skills-upgrading opportunities under the Company Training Committee framework.

Please note: The following member privileges are based on the current HSEU × NovaHealth TCM member materials. Availability and redemption requirements remain subject to the prevailing member privilege terms.

Why focus on healthcare-worker wellness?

Healthcare professionals may work long or irregular hours in physically and emotionally demanding environments. Depending on their roles, they may also experience repetitive movement, sustained standing, high workloads or physically strenuous duties.

HSEU has highlighted that these pressures may contribute to musculoskeletal strain, fatigue, sleep disruption and accumulated stress. The NovaHealth TCM–HSEU–AiTreat partnership offers members another accessible avenue to learn about preventive wellness support and seek an appropriate assessment.

These services do not replace medical care, workplace safety measures or treatment from an appropriate healthcare professional. Individual suitability should be assessed before any hands-on or technology-assisted service begins.

What is EMMA?

EMMA stands for Expert Manipulative Massage Automation. It is a technology-assisted robotic massage system developed by AiTreat. The system uses computer vision for spine recognition and feature-point detection, while machine learning supports stiffness detection.

A trained professional sets and supervises the session parameters. The technology is intended to support consistent, targeted movements; it does not replace professional assessment or make every service suitable for every person.

A partnership that continues beyond the signing

The collaboration was formalised on 6 March 2026 through a memorandum of understanding between HSEU, NovaHealth TCM Clinic and AiTreat. The signing took place alongside the grand opening of NovaHealth’s Chinatown Point Wellness Clinic.

While that event marked the start of the partnership, its purpose is ongoing: to improve access to wellness support, provide education and outreach, and create future development opportunities for healthcare workers.
